Shrimp with Garlic Pepper Sauce
I couldn't find any recipes in the two oldest relevant cookbooks for NW Europe. Ergo, I used `A Good Wife' for a simple shrimp recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp
- 1/2 cup white wine
- water
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp ground garlic
- 1/4 cup verjuice or red wine vinegar
Instructions
- Deshell and devein shrimp
- In a small sauce pan, place the shrimp and pour in the white wine
- Add enough water to cover the the shrimp
- Remove shrimp and bring liquid to boil
- While liquid is heating, prepare dipping sauce by mixing together vinegar, garlic and pepper
- Add shrimp and simmer until shrimp is opaque
- Serve shrimp hot by dipping in vinegar mix
Notes
I've never been a big fan of shrimp. Maybe because restaurants either deep fry them of overwhelm them with butter. However, this elegant simple dish was very tasty, if the shrimp isn't overcooked.
