Shrimp with Garlic Pepper Sauce

I couldn't find any recipes in the two oldest relevant cookbooks for NW Europe. Ergo, I used `A Good Wife' for a simple shrimp recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • water
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp ground garlic
  • 1/4 cup verjuice or red wine vinegar

Instructions

  • Deshell and devein shrimp
  • In a small sauce pan, place the shrimp and pour in the white wine
  • Add enough water to cover the the shrimp
  • Remove shrimp and bring liquid to boil
  • While liquid is heating, prepare dipping sauce by mixing together vinegar, garlic and pepper
  • Add shrimp and simmer until shrimp is opaque
  • Serve shrimp hot by dipping in vinegar mix

Notes

I've never been a big fan of shrimp. Maybe because restaurants either deep fry them of overwhelm them with butter. However, this elegant simple dish was very tasty, if the shrimp isn't overcooked.
